“My love for architecture began at an early age. Growing up, my father was an architectural draftsman, so I spent a lot of time watching him and learning this wonderful craft. Before my birth, he was a brick mason, a craftsman. My parents enrolled me and my twin brother in Mrs. Gilberts are classes in my pre-teen years, so creativity, art and architecture grew with me throughout my early life. Dad designed and built a modest weekend lake home, then added an addition which became our permanent home at age eleven. My appreciation for the outdoors began at this time through scouting and growing up on the lake. These formative years were most important and made me who I am today. During my formal education, I worked for several architects, emersed in the profession I love. Wrapping up my education included a stint in Italy, which rounded out my formal training.
My passion has been modern architecture throughout my career and now I’ve aimed my career in a narrow focus, modern residential. The love and understanding for the outdoors, art and architecture couldn’t be a more appropriate foundation for designing the modern home.
Modernism is not a harsh aesthetic, but a balance of scale and materials with a connection to nature, while prioritizing function over form. This is accomplished through a purposeful rigorous process of creating elegant solutions right down to the last detail. Modern architecture should not be edgy or kitsch, but it requires the conceptual depth and craft of fine art which results in timeless, elegant architecture.”
